Das Buch liefert eine tolle Ergänzung zu klassischen Methoden der Aquarelltechnik in From von kleinen Übungen mit Schritt für Schritt-Anleitungen. Es wird viel mit Maskierung gearbeitet und sehr viel Wert auf eine realistische Darstellung gelegt. Es ist richtig, dass Grundkenntnisse zum Zeichnen und Aquarellieren vorausgesetzt werden. Allerdings bietet das Buch eine Menge Ideen, die man nicht nur für Landschaften einsetzen kann. Das Buch aufgrund seiner englischen Anleitung herunter zu stufen ist völlig fehl am Platze. Aus meiner Sicht ein echter Geheimtipp.
Frau Nita Engle ist nicht nur eine Künstlerin von Format sondern auch eine gute Lehrerin. Sie hilft, Fehler die man gerne macht, schon im Vorfeld zu Begegnen und gar nicht erst zu Stande kommen zu lassen. Ihre Vorschläge für verschiedene Malmethoden sind Anreiz für eigene Versuche.
Die Techniken, die in diesem Buch beschrieben werden, kommen fast alle ohne die herkömmliche Malerei mit Pinsel aus. Es ist aber kein Buch für Anfänger, sondern es richtet sich eher an den fortgeschrittenen Maler, der seine Fähigkeiten erweitern möchte. Die Farben werden auf das Papier gespritzt, gegossen, es wird mit Fingern und Händen gemalt etc.. Durch die Anwendung dieser Techniken wirken die Bilder viel natürlicher , als mit dem Pinsel gemalt. Ich kann dieses Buch auf alle Fälle weiter empfehlen und würde es mir immer wieder kaufen.
Toll, wie die Künstlerin mit bisher unbekannten Mitteln Bilder kreiert, die man immer wieder anschauen möchte. Leider bin ich der englischen Sprache so wenig mächtig, dass mir die Anleitung dazu eben doch unerschlossen bleibt. Eine Übersetzung wäre schön gewesen.
Vorneweg: das Buch ist definitiv nicht für Anfänger geeignet. Man sollte schon etwas Erfahrung mit dem Medium Aquarell/Watercolor haben. Auch Fortgeschrittene werden nicht sofort mit den Techniken klar kommen, welche die Künstlerin anwendet. Dennoch bietet das Buch eine Fülle von interessanten und neuen Informationen an, wie man schöne Aquarelleffekte erzielen kann. Nicht immer fotorealistisch, aber den Anspruch hatte ich sowieso nicht, als ich das Buch kaufte. Für mich muss ein gemaltes Bild auch nach "gemalt" aussehen, sonst kann ich ein Motiv auch einfach abfotografieren. Mich fasziniert, wie die Künstlerin ihre Sicht eines Motivs im Aquarell umsetzt, so dass es "fast" wie ein Foto aussieht, aber dennoch den malerischen Aspekt beinhaltet.Leider gibt es die speziellen "oiler" Flaschen, mit denen die Künstlerin die Farbe auf das Bild spritzt, nicht in den deutschen Baumärkten (ich suche noch!) und auch die "windex"-Sprühflasche, die so zauberhafte Wassereffekte verspricht, ist hier nicht erhältlich. Jedoch kann man für alles Ersatz finden, wenn man lange genug sucht. Ich werde jedenfalls mit ihrer Technik weiter experimentieren. Denn das Verfahren, das sie anwendet, verspricht viel Spaß und Aktion - "Action", die man sonst eher selten in Kursen zur Aquarellmalerei gezeigt bekommt, sondern meist nur in Acryl-Kursen für abstrakte Malerei.Für mich ein Buch, das sein Geld wert ist!
Dieses Buch ist einfach fantastisch! Jeder, der sich mit dem Medium Aquarell auseinandersetzt, sollte es gelesen haben. Die Technik, auch ohne Pinsel sondern mit Sprühen u.a. faszinierende Hintergründe ja ganze Bilder zu entwickeln, ist gut nachzuvollziehen und regt zu eigenen Experimenten an. Absolut empfehlenswert! - Man fragt sich, gibt es bald eine deutsche Übersetzung?

The effects Nita has evolved is amazing and she clearly explains how to get these effects. This book won't turn you into a wonderful painter in ?? easy lessons, but if you are a watercolor painter this is one book you'll use for years. Don't miss it!

Her illustrations and instructions are like nothing I have seen before. Her style allows watercolors to paint themselves and they do with natural results.
